After a Wednesday night standoff in Oklahoma, a single mother with two daughters has now been forced to leave her home.

Brittany Fent of Stillwater said that police were called to her house in Stillwater looking for a suspect, who was not there and had been missing from the hom e since around one month.

Fent has been living at the house for three years.

She claims that the company plans to remove her and force her to pay damages caused during the search by the authorities.

Stillwater Police confirmed that they received word from Lincoln County officials on Wednesday afternoon, saying Lewis Bearden III was Fent’s former boyfriend. He had warrants of arrest for felony burglary and theft, according to the police.

Fent said, “He was not there. I had told them that several times.” I kept asking them to come in if they needed my keys, but no one listened or believed me. “I’m now without a place to live.”

Fent said to Nexstar KFOR she dated Bearden but that they broke up more than a month earlier.

Fent said, “I live paycheck-to-paycheck trying to provide food for my daughters.” The management informed me I was responsible for any damages.

Damage is widespread throughout the house and outside. The damage was extensive, including broken windows, ripped doors, broken beds, clothing thrown about, damaged walls, a busted TV, etc.

Fent stated that her daughters were in the company of their grandparents during the search and standoff. “Now they do not have any clothes on them, nor are their beds broken,” Fent added.

She added, “I told the kids that they could go in and they didn’t need to destroy it.”

The SPD responded that they were searching for him in every corner of the house once they entered.

Fent said, “I wish they had believed me when I told them he was not there. I also wish they could have understood the emotional damage that would be caused to us. I’m even unsure how I can tell my children what happened.”

Stillwater Police searched for Bearden until Friday, when he turned himself in following KFOR’s report about the situation.

Leticia, his sister said, “He saw what the police did on the news to his family and wanted to do the correct thing.”

Lincoln County officials informed KFOR Friday that Bearden is being taken to jail.

Fent, her children and sister-in law are currently staying at her sister’s house until Fent can secure a permanent home.

Fent said, “I don’t even know where I’m going to be next. I’m just living paycheck by paycheck and I have no money.”
