According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, two adults were killed in an early morning fire in a Chesapeake home.
According to the department, just before midnight on Sunday night, several neighbors called in a report of a fire at 400 Supplejack court. This is about one mile from Oscar Smith high school.
On their way to fight the fire, the firefighters discovered that the home could have two occupants.
According to Chesapeake Fire officials, Charles Jones (65 years old) and Theresa Jones (66 years old), both of whom died in the house, were Charles Jones’ 65-year-old wife.
The department reports that when crews arrived at the house, they found two adults dead on the ground floor. Since then, the department has identified Charles Jones (65 years old) and Theresa Jones (66 years old) as victims. The couple lived together, according to officials.
In about 20 minutes, crews were able to put out the flames.
Investigators discovered that the fire began on the porch of the house after combing through the debris. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but no suspicious elements were discovered.
The couple has lived there for over 20 years, according to neighbors who refused to be interviewed on camera. News 3 reporter Leondra Head spoke with a neighbor.
Adam Gunter said, “It is very scary and sad for our neighbourhood.” It was very smokey, and people were breaking windows.

Bradley stated that the porch had suffered significant damages. This damage extended from the ground floor up into the first and second floors to the roofline.
Was there any evidence that the space heater may have been involved?” News 3 reporter Leondra Head asked Bradley.
Bradley explained that there were space heaters inside, but the fire began outside. There were no ignition sources on the porch. This will be eliminated.
Bradley believes this lesson is for everyone.
Bradley stated that this is a good example to show how important it is for your smoke detectors to be working. Early notification can make all the difference in whether or not you are able to escape.

Investigators at Chesapeake Fire Department are working on determining the cause, but they don’t believe the fire is suspicious.
