Four family members were killed in a fire that may have been caused by an unused cigarette. The victims included a baby of four months and a teenager.

The split-level house on Buttonwood Drive, in Lanoka Harbor in Lacey Township was home to three generations when the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Robert Juska, CBS New York’s neighbor, said: “I heard screaming, and I thought, Oh my God, there are kids still inside the house.”

Juska, along with another neighbor, ran towards the house on fire, jumped over the fence and discovered the grandmother hanging from the rear window.

“When she fell from the window on top, her leg snapped,” Juska stated.

The neighbor said that the woman had tried to stand up and run inside to rescue her grandchildren but passed out at the door.
