Little Rock, Ark. – Residents are still picking up the pieces after the March 31 tornado. Sadly, materials left out for repairs are being stolen.
Two months after the storm, Old Forge Road near Breckenridge Village still looks like a war zone. Despite the efforts of crews to clean up Old Forge Drive, the Tebrugge family has been set back as they pick up the pieces from the twister.
On May 25, Tammy and Brad Tebrugge had 69 bundles of shingles stolen from their driveway.
After a tree fell on their roof, the robbers stole over $4,350 worth of materials.
They also stole three rolls of synthetic felt, three starter strip bundles, four hip and ring bundles, and two boxes of nails.
“You want people held accountable for taking advantage of people in tough situations,” Brad said.
In light of the head-shaking incident, it will take around a month and a half to complete the roof repairs. Their neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera, which they believe captured the robber during the robbery, should help them find the culprit in no time at all.
The license plate number is not visible in those images, Tammy said.
According to their neighbor off camera, she saw the pallets of shingles before the truck arrived.
The neighbor said the pallets were empty after the truck left.
In Arkansas, stealing $500 worth of building materials is a Class C felony. These thieves stole $4,350 worth. If anyone knows more about them or the truck, an arrest would be appreciated,” Tammy said. The Tebrugges found neighbors on Old Forge Drive who had been robbed as well, making them believe the area is being targeted.
“Why take someone’s shingles and building materials that are used to repair a tornado-damaged house?” Tammy asked.
The FOX 16 News team called the cities that were affected by the tornado.
Jacksonville police said they had no reports of tornado victim thefts. Little Rock police released eight reports of tornado victim thefts.
North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Wynne have yet to respond.
